Have you taken steps to make your home more energy efficient, such as installing energy efficient windows or doors or adding solar panels? If so, you may qualify for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit or the Residential Clean Energy Credit. The former applies only for improvements to an existing home. The amount of the credit is a percentage of the total improvement expenses in the year of installation (for 2023 through 2032, its 30%, up to $1,200 annually). The latter credit is available for existing and newly constructed homes. For 2023 through 2032, the credit is 30% of the total improvement expenses with no annual maximum or lifetime limit.
