Victims of California Storms That Began on January 8th Have Been Granted Tax Relief

Victims of California storms that began Jan. 8, 2023, have been granted tax relief, the IRS announced. Relief is available to those who live or have a business in the disaster area, giving them until May 15, 2023, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments. Also extended are the deadlines for quarterly tax payments and excise tax returns normally due on Jan. 17, 2023, and April 18, 2023. Affected farmers who normally file 2022 tax returns by March 1 now have until May 15, 2023, to file and pay taxes. Relief is automatic for those in the affected areas.
